Series consists of records documenting Medow's relationship with Karl Polanyi as his graduate student (at Columbia University) and professional colleague. Includes records of graduate seminars with Polanyi and the Columbia University Interdisciplinary Project, correspondence with and notes from conversations with Polanyi, Medow's writing about Polanyi's ideas, as well as records from their joint work (unpublished) tentatively entitled "The New West" or "For a New West". It also includes correspondence, notes and drafts or works in progess that document Medow's ongoing academic interest in Polanyi's work and contains correspondence with Japanse academic Takeshi Murota on their joint work "The Legacy of Karl Polanyi and Beyond".
