Series primarily consists of miscellaneous letters and cards pertaining to a variety of subjects and created by both well-known and lesser-known Canadians. Some items in this series were written or received by prominent members of early Toronto society, including John Davis, Reverend Robert Irvine, Adam Wilson, Allan Maclean Howard, Frederic Cumberland, James Fitzgibbon, James Scott Howard, and John Hillyard Cameron. A number of items in this series were sent by 20th century politicians, including holiday cards from Brian Mulroney, David Crombie, Mike Harris, and Jean Chretien, as well as direct mail items from Jack Layton and Joe Clark. Also included are a selection of correspondence sent or received by Esbin himself and a file of correspondence and photographs concerning the research of C.F. O'Neill about the history of Toronto.
