The Keller-plan is a method of individualized instruction, including carefully defined modules, mastery testing on each module, and undergraduate teaching assistants who served in a teaching lab devoted to the course. Herzberg developed the course and wrote a textbook during the first eleven years of the course (nine actual teaching years since Herzberg was on leave for two of the years).
