Scope and Content: | Series consists of personal and professional correspondence including copies of letters received by Levine from his immediate family, friends, other writers, Canadian government departments, universities and schools in Canada and the United Kingdom. Series also contains correspondence with publishers, agents, arts councils, professional associations, the Canadian and the British Broadcasting Corporations among others. Included in the correspondence are drafts of responses by Levine. There is significant correspondence between Levine and John Metcalf, Mordecai Richler, Mavis Gallant, Wayne Grady, Margaret Laurence, Robert Weaver and British painter Terry Frost. The Faber and Faber correspondence includes a letter from T.S. Eliot. In certain accessions the correspondence is arranged alphabetically by name; in others it is arranged only by date. | |
