| Scope and Content: | Series consists material that documents Thomas' personal relationship with Margaret Laurence as well as her continuing academic interest in her life and work. As such, it contains addresses, correspondence to and from Laurence, reviews of Laurence's books, some prose and poetry composed by Laurence in honour of Clara Thomas, copies of articles and newsclippings relating to Margaret Laurence. It also includes correspondence, memoranda, reviews and other material related a special issue of the "Canadian Women's Journal" dedicated to Margaret Laurence for which Thomas was guest editor. The series also contains obituary notices and a good deal of correspondence with Thomas from mourners across the country, on the occasion of Laurence's death. It also contains a framed portrait of Laurence and a framed caricature of her bearing the likeness of an owl. Both of these items are on display in the archives reading room. | |
