In 1815 they moved to Drummond Island which the British subsequently agreed, was in American territory. The British settlers left their new home in 1826 and reestablished themselves at Penetanguishene and St. Joseph Island.

2003-060/015(1)Levy, Eleazar, (c.1716-1811) Canada's first Jewish Notary Public, was in Quebec by 1760. In 1764 his goods were taken by officers of the British Army during military government and after eleven years of unsucessful lawsuits he went to the Unitied States. He bought land in New York which was later expropriated for the establishment of West Point.

2003-060/015(5)Michaels, Levy (1723-1815) and Myer (1760-1815). Levy Michaels came to Canada from Long Island about 1765. His son Myer, a fur trader in the "upper country," married Frances, the sister of David, Samuel and Moses David. He is recorded as coming back to Montreal by canoe in time for the High Holidays in 1804. He was awarded the Beaver Club Medal. See Frances Michaels Will.
