Biographical Sketch/
Administrative History:
Paul F. Wilkinson is university professor emeritus, professor emeritus, and senior scholar at York University. He joined the Faculty of Environmental Studies at York in 1973, a year before completing his PhD (Geography) at the University of Toronto in 1974, having previously earned an Honours BA magna cum laude (Geography) at York in 1970, and an MA (Geography) at the University of Toronto in 1971. His particular areas of academic interest pertain to resource and environmental management, recreation/tourism geography and planning and management, parks and protected area management, and urban open space planning. Throughout his career Wilkinson served in a variety of administrative and academic capacities at York, and as a visiting professor or researcher in France, Indonesia, and Kenya. Wilkinson considers his work on the Canadian government's Panel on the Ecological Integrity of Canada's National Parks from 1998-2000 to be a highlight of his career, and he continues to be active with colleagues in this field. He is also an active researcher and PhD dissertation supervisor.
Scope and Content:

The fonds consists of the records created and accumulated by the donor to support the work of, and his involvement on, the Panel on the Ecological Integrity of Canada's National Parks and includes all the correspondence, meeting minutes and reports of the panel, supporting documentation and reference material such as national park management plans, conservation plans, ecosystem and biodiversity strategic plans, environmental assessment reports, Parks Canada annual reports and corporate plans, and newspaper clippings about Canadian national parks, news clippings commenting on the work of the panel, and articles and reports pertaining to parks preservation in general.
