| Biographical Sketch/ Administrative History: | Robert A. Kenedy is a sociologist and sociology professor at York University where he also completed his B.A. (1986), M.A. (1988) and his PhD (1995). He has been studying social movements and social movement theory since 1984 with much of his research focussing on activists and collective identity, as well as ethnic communities and identity formation. He has conducted graduate research into the men's rights movement in general, and into 'Fathers for Justice' in particular, and is the author of 'Fathers for Justice: The Rise of a New Social Movement in Canada as a Case Study of Collective Identity Formation.' Professor Kenedy also attended conferences of the National Orientation Directors Association as a representative of York University. |

Fonds consists of correspondence, minutes, reports and newsletters from various men's rights organizations such as 'Fathers for Justice', newspaper clippings documenting issues of interest to the movement as well as other related material that documents Kenedy's ongoing research into the men's rights movement. Fonds also includes copies of presentations made at the annual conferences of the National Orientation Directors Associations, as well as samples of orientation literature that was published by universities in Canada and the United States for first-year students and their parents. |
