Biographical Sketch/ Administrative History: | Sir Osbert Sitwell (1892-1969), author, was born in England, and served with a Guards regiment in the World War, 1914-1918. His satirical poems of the war, published in 'Argonaut and Juggernaut,' (1919), and 'Out of the flame,' (1923). He was the author of numerous books, including a four-volume autobiography (1944-1950), 'Miracle on Sinai,' (1933), a novel, 'Winters of content,' (1932), and 'Escape with me,' (1939), travel books, and 'Pound wise,' (1963), a collection of essays. |

The fonds consists of a carbon typescript of Sir Osbert Sitwell's 'Miracle on Sinai,' under the working title, 'The new commandments or, make up your minds' as well as revisions in handwritten form, and carbon typescript pages of re-written passages. |
