Biographical Sketch/ Administrative History: | E.C.A. Gordon (fl. 1856), was a major-general in the Royal Engineers attached to the Navy at the Turkish port of Galatea and Pera during the Crimean War. He was in charge of supplies for the British Navy and commandant to the Russian prisoners of war. |

The fonds consists of a diary of E.C.A. Gordon and account book for work in the shipyards at Galatea, Constantinople, for the year 1856. The accounts are kept in piastres [Spanish currency] and British pounds. |
